4.) FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation
Remove from dusty area to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call physician.
Skin Contact
Wash skin with soap and water.
Eye Contact
Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult physician if irritation persists.
Ingestion Contact
Induce vomiting. If person is conscious and not convulsing, induse vomiting by giving syrup of ipecac (keep head below hims to prevent aspiration) followed by water. Repeat in 20 minutes if not effective. Treat symptomatically & supportively. Seek immediate professional medical attention.
ANTIDOTE
The following antidote has been recommended. However, the decision as to whether the severity of poisoning requires administration should be made by qualified medical personnel. Dimercaprol (per animal findings) 3mg/k every 4 hours intramuscularly for first 2 days and then 2mg / kg every 12 hours for 10 days (Driesbach Handbook of Poisoning, 12th ED) ANTIDOTE SHOULD BE ADMINISTERED BY QUALIFIED MEDICAL PERSONNEL ONLY.

6.) ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal Precaution in Spill
Wear personal protective equipment as described in Section 8, including appropriate respiratory protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Environment
Strontium Chromate contains the toxic chemical Chromium CAS number 7440-47-3, percentage by weight is 24-25%. This product contains chemicals known to California to cause cancer.
Spill Clean Up
Vacuum or scoop material into an appropriately marked container for reclamation or disposal. Avoid excessive generation of dust.

7.) HANDLING AND STORAGE

Usage Precautions
Avoid dust breathing and use adequate ventilation
Usage Descriptions
Allow for proper ventilation in work area. Use recommended PPE.
Storage Precautions
Store in a roofed place at room temperature. Keep containers tightly sealed . Do not store with or close to food and animals feeding stuff.
Handling Precautions
Sensitive to heat. Store in dry area, away from food and beverages. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not store near strong oxidizers, sources of heat (furnace, kilns, boilers, etc.), or where flammable or combustible liquids are stored.

8.) EXPOSURE CONTORLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Protective Equipment
Use local ventilation if dusting is a problem, to maintain air levels below the recommended exposure limit.
Process Conditions
OSHA-PEL: Not established for Strontium Chromate. ACGIH-MLV: .0005 mg/m3 TWA as Chromates (CrO3). Cancer class A2 suspected human carcinogen, PEL - OSHA Chromates as CrO3 - 0.1mg Cr / m3 (This is the ceiling value; peaks should not be exceeded for any period of time)
Respirators
NIOSH approved for dusts and mists. Do not exceed use limits of the respirator.
Protective Gloves
Wear rubber, cloth, or plastic gloves if appropriate for job conditions.
