4.) FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation
Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
Skin Contact
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention immediately. Wash clothing before reuse.
Eye Contact
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately.
Ingestion Contact
If swallowed, give large quantities of water to drink and get medical attention immediately.DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Note to Physician
Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Sodium sulfate can be given in case of ingestion to precipitate out the barium as barium sulfate.

5.) FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Extinguishing Media
Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide
Special Fire Fighting Procedures
Not considered to be a fire hazard. Use fire fighting measures that suite the surrounding fire..
Fire and Explosion Hazzards
Not considered to be an explosion hazard.
Hazardous Combustion Products
No information found.
Protective Measure in Fire
Wear Self-contained respirator and fully protective impervious suit.

6.) ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal Precaution in Spill
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Environment
Prevent product from entering drains.
Spill Clean Up
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the PPE section.. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Provide ventilation.

7.) HANDLING AND STORAGE

Usage Precautions
Usage Descriptions
Storage Precautions
Handling Precautions
Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Keep the container tightly closed when not in use. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Store in a cool, dry place.

8.) EXPOSURE CONTORLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Protective Equipment
A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employee exposures below the Airborne Exposure Limits. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area. Please refer to the ACGIH document, Industrial Ventilation, A Manual of Recommended Practices, most recent edition, for details.
Process Conditions
For Soluble Barium Compounds: OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL): 0.5 mg (Ba)/m3 ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV): 0.5 mg (Ba)/m3 A4 - Not classified as a human carcinogen
Respirators
Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face particle respirator type N100 (US) or type P3 (EN143) respirator cartridges as backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 or European Standard EN 149.
Protective Gloves
The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the Standard EN 374 derived from it. Handle with impervious protective gloves.
Eye Protection
Use chemical safety goggles and / or full face shield when dusting or splashing of solutions is possible. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work areas.
Other Protection
Wear appropriate protective clothing to minimize contact with skin. Always wear long pants, lonsleeved shirt.
Hygienic Work Practices
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of the workday.
